After 4 days of themeparks, the only thing we wanted to do today was: going to a mall. Don't laugh.
When I saw there was a Cheesecakefactory, I was the happiest girl in the world. And they had very nice Clamshowder as well.

Epcot

And also this park was free for me, since my ticket was also valid for an entrance in Epcot.
Keeping a paper ticket for 10 years was worth 139$.
There were 3 new attractions : Soarin', Mission: SPACE®, and a rollercoaster you can build yourself.

Blizzard beach

My favorite themepark of them all : a waterpark.
And the most fun of all : I was able to use my ticket I had saved for more then 10 years. It was still valid. So I got in for free, Peter paid 39$ + taxes. Blizzard Beach is actually very entertaining. Different attractions provide different thrills.

Universal Studio's

We started this 'theme park week' with Universal Studio's on Monday. The hotel was only 1 block away from Universal Studio's and offered a complimentary shuttle service. In the evening we planned to walk back home as the shuttle only had two scheduled pickup times. The park is a lovely virtual playground for young and old.

The forgotton coast

When we left Loxley, Alabama, we headed for Florida. In the evening we were supposed to be somewhere in the middle of the panhandle, but the complete day would be build around nice beaches.
Beaches and the Navy. Peter had seen an indicator board 'National Aviary Museum' and he remembered that it was free entrance. So ofcourse we went there to pay this a visit.

And then the US changes

While Mississipi (or at least the Gulfcoast of Mississippi) still had the feeling of the US I used to know for the last couple of years, the gulfshores in Alabama looked overwhelming and yelling to me. It seemed to me as if I was in the Florida pocket three days before I realized it.

The touristic route

Very early in the morning we cleaned up the livingroom of Terry again, left some choccies and were on our way to say goodbye to New Orleans. To make sure we really did not miss anything, we drove a few streets in the French Quarter and visited a cemeterie. Then we headed for a shoppingmall, and ofcourse the Apple Store inside this mall. In the Shopping Mall was advertised you could claim all the taxes you pay in Louisiana on the 3rd floor.

Sometimes you just know

I knew it in advance, and I should had stay put with that feeling. But everybody kept telling the opposite and giving good advice. At the end I gave in to all that pressure and incorporated it in our trip. We arrived here by 2pm and had set a 'render-vous' with Terry by 6pm. So that gave us 4 hour to explore the city that day. It has different quarters, the one more interesting then the other, the one more touristique then the other, but still. None of the streets, none of the places we saw, none of the vibes that were in the city got to me.
I'm very sorry NOLA, but you are not my kind of city.

Aged to perfection
6 April 2010 l Anne op reis, The Deep south (2010) l Zeg het maar..
We left for Avery Island, to go visit the 'Tabasco factory'. It's not really an island, but still you need to pay 1$ to 'get on the island'. The tour itself is free tough. It's rather interesting to see and hear how they make Tabasco, where it came from and what the history is. We brought home some souvenirs (had you expect something else) like a collection of 6 flavors Tabasco sauce, a T-shirt, a hat, a couple of bottles spicy salt,…
